This is a completely handcrafted chess set. Each piece was painstakingly whittled by hand out of Acacia wood, with the addition of copper pipe, oil rubbed bronze rivets and gears for "Black", and galvanized nuts, silver rivets and gears for "White". The board was constructed from Acacia wood as well, with a natural stone tile insert cut and laid into the surface for a flush playing surface. The board is reinforced and bonded to an additional layer of Pine wood underneath. There is felt added to each piece so they glide nicely on the board. The board itself also has felt pads underneath as to not damage your table. My maker's mark is burned underneath the board for authenticity.
 
This is a beautiful set and took multiple weeks to complete. Definitely a conversation piece for any home or cottage and adds a certain unique feel and challenge to the game that won't be found anywhere else.

When it comes to purchasing a blade or any of my products, you assume all responsibilities for the safe handling and proper care of the item. A lot of these items are made from natural materials or materials that require regular upkeep to maintenance their appearance, as heavy usage, UV, moisture and other elements can all cause damage and degradation over time. All Damascus steel is etched in acid or other etchant to reveal the blade pattern. Heavy use and/or scrubbing of the blade will wear down the etch over time, making the pattern harder to see, so be aware of this before making a purchase as a monosteel blade may be better suited for your intended use. Furthermore, all high carbon steels are prone to rust if left damp or wet, so always wipe clean after use, keep dry, and apply a dab of oil (olive/canola works fine) to the blade whenever possible. Leather will also dry out over time and will require treating with mink oil or other suitable products to maintain its flexibility and water resistance.
